Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Spolia. By creating or joining a match, you agree to them. Please read them.

1. What Spolia is

Spolia is a peer-to-peer platform for skill-based, head-to-head console video game competition. Two players stake an equal amount of USDC on the outcome of a match they play against each other. Funds are held in a smart-contract escrow and paid to the winner based on a verified final score. Outcomes are determined by player skill, not by chance.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and legally permitted to participate in skill-based competition for stakes where you live. Spolia is void where prohibited. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.

3. Your account and wallet

You interact with Spolia using a self-custodied crypto wallet. You are solely responsible for the security of your wallet, its private keys, and any funds in it. Spolia never holds your keys and cannot recover them. You are responsible for all activity conducted through your wallet.

4. Stakes, escrow, and payouts

Stakes range from $5 to $120 per match. When you create or join a match, your stake is locked in the MatchEscrow smart contract. On settlement, the winner receives the pot minus a 2.5% platform fee. Full details are on the Fees and How escrow works pages, which form part of these terms.

5. Results, verification, and disputes

Results are determined from screenshots of the final score submitted by players and read by an automated vision system. Where submissions conflict or cannot be read confidently, the match is reviewed by a human before payout. You agree to submit accurate, unaltered evidence. Submitting falsified screenshots, colluding, or otherwise manipulating a result is grounds for forfeiture and account termination.

6. Cancellations, timeouts, and refunds

Matches carry a 7-day timeout. If an opponent fails to join, play, or submit a result, the affected player may cancel and reclaim their staked funds from escrow. Refunds return the original stake; no fee is charged on a cancelled, unplayed match.

7. Fair play

You agree to play matches yourself, honestly, and to report results truthfully. Cheating, account sharing, use of bots, harassment, or any attempt to defraud another player or the platform may result in forfeiture of stakes in the affected match and suspension or termination of your access.

8. No guarantees

Spolia makes no representation that you will win any match or receive any particular return. Nothing on this site is a promise of earnings. The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spolia and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from blockchain network conditions, wallet compromise, or third-party services outside our control.

10. Changes and contact
